CREPUSCULUM
Founder & Director (2011-2012)
Crepusculum is a small chamber choir at Berklee College of Music in Boston, founded by Alexandra Schwinn. The choir is composed of approx. 20 Berklee students. The (student led) group auditions new directors and members annually.
Our Name: 'Crepusculum' in Latin means 'twilight', and just as twilight is the perfect blend of light and darkness, we aim for the perfect blend of voices.
Why I founded this group: In January 2011 I came back to Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) after spending 8 months traveling around Europe trying to figure out why I was at Berklee and how I wanted to spend the rest of my time there. On a chilly weekend in November I travelled from Madrid (where I was living at the time) to Cambridge (UK) to participate in a choral workshop in King's Chapel. While singing Whitacre's 'Sleep' entirely enveloped by the chapel’s acoustic, I started to shake. I hadn't been moved by anything like that before in my life. I decided I never wanted my life to be without experiences like these. 6 weeks later I was back at Berklee auditioning singers for my new choir.
